A cancer prevention assistance projects, Word Community Grid (WCG) Help Fight Childhood Cancer IBM launched in Japan.
Now, IBM’s embrace Indonesia Foundation Children’s Oncology and Cancer Hospital Dharmais socialize this program is to combat neurological cancer (neuroblastoma).
WCG is a program of collective parallel computing, where computer users can contribute by donating their computer time which is not in use (idle) to identify three million candidates for the treatment of potentially inhibit the growth of all three proteins believed to cause cancer.
To be able to participate in this program, computer users simply install the CD that IBM provides to the computer or install directly from the official WCG website. Later on every computer in an idle state will be directly connected to the lab and resources will be collected in a single server.
“The power produced is very large, which is commensurate with the three most powerful supercomputers in the world,” said Hartini Harris, Country Manager, Marketing IBM Indonesia, at the launch of childhood cancer prevention assistance projects in Dharmais hospital on Tuesday (05/12/2009) .
Hartini further added, “This study can spend less time over 200 years if only using the power of a computer, but through the WCG, it is expected that research can be completed in less than a year.”
